Rhinos, now confined to Assam’s grasslands, once roamed the Western Ghats near Coimbatore 3,500 years ago. Archaeologists unearthed Indian rhino bone fragments at a neolithic site, marking the third such discovery in South India. This finding suggests rhinos were once widespread across the subcontinent, thriving in areas with ample grasslands and marshes.
