Uttar Pradesh Vigilance Establishment arrested Assistant Stamp Commissioner Ravindra Mehta and Clerk Ashwani in Shamli for accepting a ₹1 lakh bribe. The officials had demanded an additional ₹3.8 lakh in stamp duty and a bribe from a land buyer, threatening to charge at the full market rate otherwise.
