A lifeguard and his daughter were unexpectedly surrounded by bottlenose dolphins off New Zealand’s coast. The pod formed a protective barrier, preventing the swimmers from moving as they subtly herded them away from a lurking great white shark. This coordinated defensive behavior lasted nearly forty minutes until the shark retreated.
