A Bangladeshi woman, married in Tripura five years ago, was jailed for illegal stay after fleeing alleged torture by her in-laws and being denied custody of her child. She claims her husband’s family physically abused her and escalated torment after she briefly returned to Bangladesh. Her complaint is under investigation.
