A 32-hour traffic nightmare on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway, caused by a gas tanker accident, has intensified calls for the opening of the 13.3-km missing link. This bypass, nearing 98% completion and slated for a May 1 opening, aims to significantly reduce travel time and enhance safety by avoiding the accident-prone Khandala ghat section.
