Moment hero passer-by falls into frozen lake while trying to rescue man who plunged into icy water attempting to save dog – as temperatures plummet to -12C and snow shuts schools

The man was attempting to rescue the animal after it walked onto the ice at Connaught Water in Epping Forest, Essex – but he fell in, and a passer-by then entered the water to help.
