PhonePe has introduced biometric authentication for UPI payments, allowing users to authorize transactions up to ₹5,000 using fingerprint or facial recognition. This feature enhances security by eliminating the need to manually enter a UPI PIN, thus preventing ‘shoulder-surfing’. Users can enable it through the app’s profile settings, with Android users currently having access.
